Use the word "slut" with caution!

Ishtar. Priestess or slut? My definition: Neither
Like any young woman, thousands of years ago or today, we all transform into woman in many different ways. Yes, we can accuse Ishtar of doing some sinful things, but does that give us authority to categorize her as a slut for life?
Ishtar is a young girl becoming a woman; none the less, confused and lost. She in undergoing lots of transformations at this point in her life.
In the descent of Ishtar, we learn that at the end of Ishtar's flight to the Underworld, she is left bare, naked, and is nothing but her original self. So why then are we obscured from seeing her as that? Bare, naked, and undergoing womanhood.
In my opinion, I think that Ishtar is perfectly justified for doing her actions. She is a young girl, and it is her job to learn from her mistakes. Keep in mind that in ancient Mesopotamia prostitution was not something that was shameful, and carried a different meaning that the one it has today. So then why is it so sinful of her to have "civilized" Enkidu. People of Mesopotamia I believe, would have looked at her actions in a much different perspective.
In addition, many of the gods in ancient Mesopotamia did many things that were often criticized by others. Ishtar is no different, part of the large mythological family that pulls pranks, make messes, and create chaos in their world as well as the mortal one. "Inanna [Ishtar] is portrayed as a young girl, innocent but showing a firm streak of the self-confidence ad willfulness that characterize gods."
In conclusion, I think that Ishtar is a young girl justified of her actions because she is undergoing womanhood. She is confused, and it will take her some time to figure out what is right and what is wrong. She is a stereotypical girl in the sense that she has a lot to figure out before she becomes a matured woman.
